  1. What a courageous, truthful, Christian man he was!

    I can’t find in the UK any Bishop, *not one*, who would dare to speak with such frankness. Is the situation in Ireland any better?

  2. Mundabor, the situation here is the same, sadly. Archbishop McQuaid was a kind and compassionate man – and also a great friend to the poor. The historian Dermot Keogh wrote a good article on him a few years ago.

  3. Where are the Bishops now, who speak with such clarity and courage?

    Certainly not in Westminster, where Archbishops Nichols has publicly distanced himself from his forthright aide Edmund Adamus.
